Healthy remote working

Ask for support | Talk to someone | Get practical help

Creating a healthy environment is important. In the workplace environment there are people whose jobs are to develop physical spaces and working practices.

Things that might help

  • Take a break. Working from home can be great, but it’s easy to get distracted or forget to take breaks. Remember to get up and walk around every hour or so, and don’t skip your lunch break. Get outside every day if you can, even just for 10 minutes. Take a breath.
  • Stay connected. It can get lonely working remotely. Think about ways to stay connected and socialise with your colleagues. An online coffee break, game or walk with your team may do just the trick.
  • Plan your time and let others know when you are around. You do not need to be available at all times. Responding to every chat or email instantly is not productive. Book some quiet time where you can get work done and switch your status to ‘busy’ and mark it in your online diary to let others know.
