The South East Leadership Academy offered a range of programmes and interventions tailored to the needs of those that work in primary care.
Supporting the immediate needs of today i.e. the leadership and management of a changing landscape of practices and community providers, whilst focusing on tomorrow, enabling a shift from reactive approaches to illness by individual practitioners and organisations, to the building of healthy communities led across systems of health and social care.
What we have previously offered
Network support and development: A range of interventions to support the formation and development of primary care networks (including federations, super practices and other local systems) through leadership and organisational development. This included our Primary care Network Development Programme. View this case study on the impact of this programme.
Team development: We worked in partnership with local stakeholders to ensure that practices and other primary care organisations have access to interventions that support their own team development. This included community-facing local provision of the Mary Seacole programme.
Individual leadership development: Through our range of national programmes and local courses, seminars, masterclasses and diagnostic resources such as the Learning to Lead toolkit, we support individual clinicians and managers in primary care to lead service transformation.
Patient and citizen leadership: We provided a range of short programmes that support clinicians and managers to work in collaboration with patients and citizens as well as programmes that specific support patient leaders.
Coaching and mentoring: We can connect primary care leaders with a coach or mentor and are actively building coaching and mentoring capacity within the sector. Visit our Coaching and Mentoring page to find out more about our coaching and mentoring offer.
Consultancy and bespoke solutions: We are responsive to requests from primary care, providing expertise and guidance in relation to the design and development of bespoke leadership development solutions.
Talent management: The Academy is working to ensure that primary care is present in talent management structures and workstreams as these are established across the NHS over the next few years.
National programmes: For our range of award-winning national programmes, from online learning to support for senior system leaders visit the National Leadership Academy website.
In common with all Academy programmes and interventions our priorities for development are inclusive and compassionate leadership, systems working and improvement skills.
