South East Talent Pool + Resources and Support
The work and resources on this page are suitable for our Aspiring Chief Executives in the South East, preparing those already working at a senior level who are aspiring to lead at a Chief Executive level. Our focus throughout is on developing system-focused, compassionate, and inclusive chief executives.
Our Talent Pool:
Our talent pools identify the leaders of today and tomorrow with the right skills, attitudes, and behaviours to cultivate a positive environment for staff, patients, and citizens. They offer aspiring leaders visibility and progression opportunities, supporting everyone to excel in their next roles and fostering diverse leadership from varied backgrounds.
It’s crucial for organizations to develop, manage, and retain talented individuals at all levels. Our talent pools consist of those aspiring to board-level roles, more complex executive and Chief Executive roles. demonstrating the qualities needed for healthy environments. These pools guide individuals toward their aspirations, making senior-level talent more visible, improving recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
To join up health and care, future leaders must understand diverse perspectives. Cross-system talent pools facilitate strategic talent management across organisational boundaries, partnering with employers for effective talent development. By establishing a fair, robust, inclusive process and proactively seeking aspiring directors from under-represented groups, our talent pools will also help to create a more diverse leadership that can make better business decisions and better represent the staff and communities we serve

Aspiring Chief Executive Programme.
The highly successful Aspiring Chief Executive programme has been designed to deliver an exceptional development programme to prepare those aspiring to their first chief executive officer role. Those participants who demonstrate their readiness to become a chief executive by the end of the programme will gain the NHS Leadership Academy Chief Executive Award.
This is a challenging programme that requires commitment from you and your sponsoring trust/organisation. There is no guarantee of a chief executive post at the end of it, but the benefits of the programme are clear, with well over half of the graduates from the programme now in chief executive roles.
