Overview

The South East Aspiring Executive Talent Pool is here to identify and support talented leaders ready to step into executive roles within the next two years. 
Members have access to targeted leadership and talent development, peer and expert support. Members also get group and individual, practical support to succeed in securing and sustaining an executive role in health and care.
Whether you are an aspiring leader or someone who can spot and support future talent, this is an opportunity to build a stronger, more inclusive leadership pipeline for health and care services in the South East.
We will be adding further offers for our current executives in due course.

Eligibility

We welcome applications from aspiring executives in health and care who meet the following criteria:

  • Aspiration: You aim to achieve an executive-level role in NHS services within the South East within the next two years. This includes VSM-level roles across NHS trusts, primary Care, integrated care boards, arm’s length bodies, and related organisations.
  • Ability: You have the experience, expertise, skills, and mindset required to take on an executive role. Your executive sponsor will endorse your readiness for this next step in your career.
  • Agility: You are committed to continuous growth, actively seeking development opportunities, and contributing to the success of your peers.

Additional Information:

  • Part-time contracts, parental leave, caring responsibilities, or any protected characteristic do not limit eligibility
  • Applicants must have an executive sponsor who endorses their application and supports their career trajectory.

Joining Process

1.  Get on the map: Register on the SE Talent Map to access your portfolio guide.

2.  Secure support: An executive sponsor must endorse your application.

3.  Submit a portfolio: Provide a personal statement, CV, and sponsorship form.

4.  Path forward: Applications are reviewed by a regional panel, and all submissions receive feedback and next steps.

Sponsors

To apply, aspirants need an Executive Sponsor who actively advocates for their potential and career growth. Sponsors use their firsthand experience with the aspirant and executive-level insight to guide them, endorsing realistic goals, identifying strengths and gaps, and navigating challenges. By publicly supporting candidates and leveraging their networks, Sponsors play a crucial role in turning ambitions into successful appointments.

Candidates apply to join the South East Aspiring Executive Talent Pool with the support of an executive sponsor who endorses their readiness for an executive role within two years. The sponsor also commits to helping the candidate to progress.

  1. Find a Sponsor: Secure the endorsement of an executive sponsor who will support your application and progression. Contact us if you think you are ready but do not have an executive sponsor.
  2. Submit your portfolio: Complete your personal statement, CV, and sponsorship form, and submit them by 30th January 2025.
  3. Receive your feedback: Following review, you’ll receive actionable feedback and tailored next steps.
