The Offer:

These sessions build on the success of Learning Sets for PCN managers in the South East over the last year. With expert facilitation, the sessions provide an opportunity for PCN Managers to seek and offer peer support relating to the unique leadership challenges of this role.

The peer learning will also involve sharing perspectives and ideas while gently challenging each other to be bold and to try new things. The aim is for PCN Managers to feel less alone, to learn with and from each other and to build a network.

Format:

    • 90 Minute virtual sessions
    • Frequent sessions, every 4 weeks
    • Individuals put forward their real, live leadership issues they wish to explore and the group chooses which to focus on
    • Book onto sessions as and when needed
    • Max 8 people per session to enable small group inquiry and engagement
    • Sessions use the principles of supportive peer learning and critical friendship.

Who the session is for:

 The sessions are open to all Primary Care Network Managers across the South-East Region.

Embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion into Primary Care

This masterclass is an Intermediate Level Workshop for Practices/PCNs and ICB Leads  delivered in partnership with  South East Primary Care Transformation Team and the South East Leadership Academy

The session will cover some practicalities and value around leaders embedding equality, diversity and inclusion principles in the primary care context. The goal is to help you think through a strategy for implementing EDI in primary care in its broader context of often-competing initiatives, perspectives, expectations, policies and politics.

Outcomes

  • Review Inclusive Recruitment – looking at your policies are they inclusive, do you do exit interviews, what does your workforce data tell you?
  • Looking at data – health inequalities of your population, how can you shape your services when thinking about inclusion.
  • Equality Impact Assessment – reviewing your template.
  • What are the 9 protected characteristics and your legal responsibilities?
  • Connecting to inclusion networks

This session will be repeated three times, 90 minutes each session – please register for the date which suits you:

Improving organisational and individual performance, resilience and wellbeing

Rene is an independent development consultant, a fellow of the CIPD, with an MBA. She has extensive understanding of the transformation and devolution agendas and the needs of practitioners across the public, education, police, health and voluntary sectors. She is also an Associate with North West Employers and The NHS North West Leadership Academy and a prime deliverer on current GM Leadership Programmes.

Rene’s previous experience includes being Director of Development at North West Employers, Assistant Director of HR with Salford Council and as Director of Learning for the GMB trade union. She has extensive employee relations experience and is regarded as a leading regional figure in relation to leadership and workforce development.

Rene supports public sector organisations both regionally and nationally in the diverse areas of leadership and management, workforce development, partnership working, action learning, and the development of creative problem solving skills. Increasingly she is working with clients, both individually and organisationally on building resilience and wellbeing.

Primary Care Masterclass: Emotions Matter – Riding the Coronacoaster

About this session:

We are living through a pandemic that most of us could never have imagined. Many of us are not in the best emotional shape. Emotions matter for health and wellbeing – how we feel influences our bodies, including physical and mental health. Stress and pressure are associated with increased levels of cortisol linked to depression, cardiovascular issues and weight gain. Learning to regulate unpleasant emotions and experience more positive emotions have been shown to have health benefits including greater resilience.
