As we celebrate Black History Month, this masterclass will be making the links between theory, discourse, policy and action. You will get to explore authentic allyship as an agent of change and transformation and have the space to start to think about your own role in this.
During the session, you will:
• Explore the concept and relevance of allyship
• Understand the thinking and development that led to allyship as an important aspect of Equity and Social Justice
• Explore the idea of being an ally in terms of policy and practice at work
• Consider how you can become an authentic ally

This practical, participative virtual masterclass invites you to consider how we model collaborative, inclusive leadership in the current context of pressing demands, remote working and the emotional rollercoaster of the pandemic.
You’ll be encouraged to consider thought-provoking ideas, share your views, discuss issues with colleagues, reflect on your own leadership, apply your learning to your own context and ask any questions you have.
The masterclass will cover:
- How do we model collaborative, inclusive leadership behaviour in the current context?
- How do we create and sustain a climate of psychological safety in our virtual work?
- How do we keep and embed a sense of connection amongst our colleagues when we’re working remotely?
The masterclass will be facilitated by Dr Jeanne Hardacre, Founding Director of Impact4, which is a specialist leadership, OD and culture change consultancy.

We have launched an engagement initiative for the South East Leadership Academy, Listening to Leaders, now that we are a combined team we genuinely want to ensure the offer we create in the South East meets the needs of all of our leaders in the region. Our intention is to start a multi-channel ‘Big Conversation’ with a range of leaders from across the South East over the coming months.
We are inviting leaders and emerging leaders from across all parts of the NHS as well as our colleagues and partners in hospices, care homes, social care and the voluntary sector, to join the big conversation and share their insights, challenges, successes and needs as leaders within the NHS and the wider care sector. Our aspiration is to synthesise a range of views which will feed into the South East Leadership Academy 21/22 business planning cycle – ensuring we act on what we hear from you.
We welcome all leaders in health and care into this session, so that we can hear from as many voices as possible. We are trying to reach a leadership audience as broad as possible for this group including patient leaders, community care leaders, allied health professionals and others from the wider health and care system. About the programme:
The NHS Constitution makes it clear that patients and the public have a right to be involved in their care, the services they use and any future plans for the way care is delivered. This is a key feature of the NHS Long Term Plan. As a result, many trusts now have dedicated Patient Engagement specialists in place to support this.
The aims and objectives of the programme are:
To help patient engagement and experiences leads, tasked with embedding patient, carer and citizen engagement and development, to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to do this effectively.
To create a safe learning environment in which participants are encouraged to share good practice, learn from each other and from a range of other contributors, and develop their ideas about how to be effective in the role.
Who is the webinar for:
This programme has been designed NHS staff who have responsibility for patient engagement and/or experience.

Coaching is widely recognised and used as a highly effective approach to develop skills and performance of people in organisations.
The coach facilitates the learning of the coachee in a way that is context driven (i.e. always highly relevant), the learning process is owned and lead by the coachee. Coaching is very effective at influencing the development of desired skills and behaviours. The coach supervisor provides support to and facilitates the continuous professional development of the coach.
Coaching supervision uses the same core competencies as coaching but is a different discipline, utilising different processes with different outcomes. Coaching supervision draws heavily from supervision in therapeutic disciplines such as counselling and psychotherapy.
