Talent and Leadership Dispatch – Autumn 2025

Welcome to our Autumn 2025 newsletter.  This is the third of our quarterly newsletters which we hope will help us […]

Session 3 – Navigating Change and Uncertainty

This is the third of three 90-minute themed sessions supporting senior leaders, with a focus on reflection, resilience and discernment through the Thinking Environment. Designed for those navigating change in complex roles.  The series began with Loving the NHS (without adoring it), continued with The Tragic Gap, and concludes with this session: Navigating Change and Uncertainty.

About the session:

When pressure mounts, the pull toward control, speed and certainty can be overwhelming – but often ineffective. In this session, we explore an alternative: how to respond with grounded awareness rather than reactive urgency. We’ll introduce key components of the Thinking Environment® – including ease, attention and appreciation – and explore how these create the conditions for wiser action. Participants will practise simple techniques that support both personal clarity and team confidence, especially when navigating change, ambiguity or emotional strain.

Objectives:

  • To explore how the Thinking Environment® supports calm, clear thinking under pressure.
  • To shift the emphasis from urgency and control to discernment and presence.
  • To equip leaders with simple tools to support themselves and others in navigating uncertainty.

Outcomes:

  • Participants will experience a structured way to pause and reflect before acting.
  • They will understand how attention, equality and ease foster better decision-making.
  • They will leave with greater self-awareness and practical insights to apply in their own settings.

Who’s the session for?

These sessions are for Senior Health Leaders working across the South East who play a pivotal role within the region’s Integrated Care Systems (ICSs). This includes leaders working at provider level, General Practice, within an Integrated Care Board (ICB), across Community sector or as part of a partner organisation.
