Whatever you are doing, wherever you are planning to go, we hope you have time to rest.  For some this means that there is little time to focus on career development and skill enhancement/learning. For others if can be the ideal time. We have a variety of offers to share with you this month that you may find interesting and informative.

For those coaches amongst us, or those with an interested in using coaching skills as a line manager, EMCC Global has co-produced this 12 part podcast series with Prof. David Clutterbuck in conversation with international colleagues, who have also helped shape the face of modern coaching, mentoring and supervision Prof. David Clutterbuck’s 75th Birthday Podcast Series – EMCC Global   

For those of you who are students or working with students you may want to have a look at the Student Leadership Ambassador Scheme which is run in collaboration with the NHS Leadership Academy and key higher education institutions. This scheme is designed to facilitate the development of leadership knowledge, skills and behaviours among pre-registration healthcare students, through a programme of education and support.   

If you fancy a new summer read and are interested in systems thinking, and are looking for tools and perspectives for making a difference across multiple boundaries or silos of practice, institutions and geography, have a look at this article on conveying or if you fancy a game of cards have a look at the system behavioural cards developed by the North West Academy. 

We are also delighted to announce new dates for a third cohort of the Cross-functional Leadership: Integrating Perspectives in Health and Social Care Programme. The programme is designed to support anyone involved in collaborative, integrated working in Health and Social care to communicate across discipline/organisational boundaries, analysing the types of collaboration and integration required by a problem.  Feedback from previous participants includes “Loved the session – really got me thinking about entropy and its very relevance in health and care systems where we have the dichotomy of being very process/procedure/pathway orientated versus the predictability of humans – be that staff or those who use our services”. If you would like to brush up on some of your health knowledge then have a look at the e-learning for health module  Launched by NHSE and developed specifically for NHS staff, the module covers common symptoms of the menopause, how it can impact people at work and how colleagues can support colleagues going through the transition. If you want to know more, look at national menopause guidance, which is especially aimed at line managers and colleagues to support those experiencing menopause.
