About the session:

This training will explore the concept of Affirmative Practice and assist delegates in thinking deeply about increasing LGBTQ inclusion in their daily practices and services overall. ‘Affirmative Practice’ refers to a process of learning, reflection, analysis and planning to ensure that a service demonstrates its understanding of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, cissexism and heterosexism, and of the impact these have on the experience of LGBTQ people.

SELA will retain a record of your name, job role, organisation, band, and contact details on its secure alumni register and contacts database for management information and communications purposes. Although we will be able to see your name and email address upon submission, this data will be anonymised from the EDI details. We appreciate your support in providing this information, which will help us to ensure our leadership development interventions are widely accessible and inclusive.

Your booking details (i.e. name, role, organisation, ICS) will be shared with the event provider and/or facilitator to allow them to understand participant thinking and adapt the event accordingly, in addition to other regional leadership academies (as required) and with the members of other relevant SELA networks to aid communication, sharing of good practice and support. About the Facilitator 

Alice Fox 

Alice Fox (she/her) is a trainer with over 8 years of training experience in the field of HIV and LGBTQ issues and has been training for MindOut for the last year. She is passionate about opening up dialogue and understanding between different communities and creating a better, more inclusive world. Aiming to deliver lively and interactive training both in person and online, she fosters a learning environment where people can be open and have their preconceptions challenged. She is particularly interested in educating about the needs and considerations for older LGBTQ people and for people living with HIV.
