Group Coach Supervision with Judith Curson

Free

About the session:

Supervision plays a significant role in helping you build your knowledge, increase self-awareness, and improve your coaching practice.  The approach allows you to critically reflect on your practice, explore what worked well and what did not, gain insight into your strengths and potential blind spots, while harnessing the resourcefulness within a group of attendees to support you. The focus is to create a safe and supportive environment that concentrates on participants’ learning.  The format is characterised by active listening and thoughtful questioning. We apply simple rules of reflection so individuals can take stock of their coaching, explore their thoughts and feelings around their work, and strengthen understanding and confidence.

The supervision will cover individual and whole group questions and topics. You will have the opportunity to explore individual issues or questions, as well as themes shared by the group, with attention around:

    • Establishing, maintaining, and concluding effective coaching relationships
    • Fulfilling client and organizational expectations
    • Application of models and techniques to address client’s needs
    • Developing confidence and standards of competence
    • Addressing immediate issues or concerns that might be impacting on your coaching
    • Ensuring you adhere to professional, ethical and organisational standards by addressing potential dilemmas of an ethical nature, exploring conflicts around personal values.

About the Supervisor – Judith Curson

After a long career in the NHS and Public Health I am now doing what I enjoy most – supporting and developing individuals and small teams or groups. I first trained as a coach in 2004 and took the Henley Business School certificate in coaching in 2007.  I trained as a coach supervisor in 2011, sponsored by the South Central Strategic Health Authority.  I undertake pro bono coaching for the NHS Leadership Academy as well as for paid clients.

I have a longstanding interest in introverted leaders – see www.introvertedleaders.co.uk and a developing interest in working with neurodiverse clients.

I work mainly on a flexible, remote, self-employed basis, combining work with childcare commitments to our 6 grandsons – all under the age of 6 and spread across 3 families.

Workwise, my main areas of interest are:

    • Professional appraisal – for doctors in all specialties and public health consultants
    • Public Health workforce development – currently in the South East and a Welsh health board
    • Coaching and mentoring – with a mix of clients funded by themselves and their organisations
    • Career conversations – including running a workshop on ‘retirement’ in October
    • Communications skills for speakers of other languages
