ICS Integrated Care Board and Integrated Partnership Board – Leadership and Board Development co-design process

The intention

The South East Leadership Academy has been working with leaders from the 6 South East ICSs and regional colleagues to co-produce a shared systems leadership core component to support the development of ICS Board Development specifications.   This component focuses specifically on system leadership behaviours designed to maximise collaboration, partnership working and health and care transformation.  The aim is that this common component will be used by all 6 South East ICSs to inform their own ICS Board Development specifications to support the procurement of their own ICS Board Development OD programme.  This recognises commonality across the 6 ICS’ and wider South East NHSE Region whilst respecting each ICS’ starting point and local variation.  

Leading this fundamental shift towards statutory ICS development requires a systems organisational development approach, at all levels of subsidiarity. However, the ICS and ICP, will play a pivotal role in governing effectively to build patient, citizen and communities confidence that their wellbeing, health and care is in safe hands.

This is also at a time of unprecedented time of pandemic, recovery and unmet/pent up need, when the ICS will face historically unrivalled challenges.

Local Talent and Leadership Alliance at ICS level

The aim of the alliance is to create a focused space for Talent and Leadership Development. We would like to establish a local alliance across each ICS, the leadership academy, and our strategic partners. The aim of this alliance is to agree a new way forward for leadership and talent development, address strategic issues and set joint priorities at an ICS level. Aspiration each ICS with have a leadership and talent plan, created with our support.
