About the session:
This 90-minute leadership espresso forms part of our inclusion series celebrating LGBTQ History Month 2023.
In this session, attendees will learn alongside one of the nation’s foremost experts and historians about the history of LGBTQ people and culture in the UK. As the Queer History lecturer at Oxford, your trainer will utilize his unique expertise to help delegates explore key insights into the policy, events and salient cultural forces that have shaped LGBTQ experiences over the last century.

SELA will retain a record of your name, job role, organisation, band, and contact details on its secure alumni register and contacts database for management information and communications purposes. Although we will be able to see your name and email address upon submission, this data will be anonymised from the EDI details. We appreciate your support in providing this information, which will help us to ensure our leadership development interventions are widely accessible and inclusive.
Your booking details (i.e. name, role, organisation, ICS) will be shared with the event provider and/or facilitator to allow them to understand participant thinking and adapt the event accordingly, in addition to other regional leadership academies (as required) and with the members of other relevant SELA networks to aid communication, sharing of good practice and support. About the Facilitator
Dr. Jack Doyle
Dr. Jack Doyle (he/him) joined the MindOut Training team in October 2020 while also working as the Trans Advocacy Worker, bringing with him extensive experience supporting LGBTQ people with mental health experiences. A veteran grassroots organiser for UK and international LGBTQ health initiatives, Jack is one of the UK’s foremost experts in transgender healthcare advocacy. At MindOut, he supported other trans, non-binary, and intersex people accessing healthcare, housing, employment, safety, immigration help, and legal support. In 2021, Jack joined Spectra in London as an Independent Health Advocate to launch a new trans advocacy service. Jack holds a doctorate in the history of war from the University of Oxford, where he co-founded the Oxford Queer Studies Network and Oxford Mutual Aid. He is also a graduate of classical theatre training programmes at Shakespeare & Company and the British American Drama Academy, and has worked as a journalist for platforms including OZY and NPR.
