Effective Mentoring Training: Developing potential within others

About Effective Mentoring Training

Mentoring supports an individual or team’s learning, development and performance. It is a successful developmental technique for organisations to use to support individuals to reach their full potential by offering them access to regular and contracted support from another person at work. The training will focus on the skills, knowledge, tools and techniques to mentor effectively in practice within the NHS.

Who is this programme for?

Supporting participants to become a ’formal mentor’ offering contracted mentoring to South East NHS staff. The material and practical exercises cover the following areas in order to build confidence in mentoring others within the workplace.

Objectives of Training Day;

  • – Understanding what mentoring is (and what it is not)
  • – Understanding the context for mentoring and explore the role and responsibilities of the mentor
  • – Developing your own mentoring skills
  • – Using process, logs and paperwork to help bring focus to our mentoring
  • – Using tools and techniques to creatively support and mentor
  • – To practice mentoring skills and techniques in a range of circumstances
  • – To explore how to use mentoring in practice to support and develop individuals.

About the CPD Session:

This will be a reflective CPD session with the opportunity to bring cases and explore application of learning in practice. The material and practical exercises cover the following areas in order to build confidence in mentoring others within the workplace.

Expectations

To be accepted onto this programme, it is essential that applicants can make both training days:

Training (Day 1) – Tuesday 17 May 2022 – 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

CPD (Day 2) – Thursday 29th September 2022 – 9:00am – 12pm

Participants who attend this programme are expected to join the South East Leadership Academy Coaching and Mentoring Register, to offer their services as a Mentor to South East NHS staff. Reserve a place via our Application form. The closing date for all applications is Wednesday 4th May 2022. Confirmation of successful/unsuccessful applications will be confirmed by Wednesday 11th May, and participants will receive the Joining Instructions 1 week prior to the event.

About the Facilitators

Cath Brown, CBC

CBC facilitators are trained and qualified as a coaches, facilitators and supervisors. We focus on individual’s potential to achieve by focusing on their strengths, understanding interference, raising awareness to recognise issues and to take responsibility for actions. We work with your people and your organisation using a diagnostic approach to enable organisations to develop their own approach with ownership of activity and practice. We have a track record of delivering these particular programmes to great success across a range of different sectors and organisations.
