Coaching Skills Lab

About the session:

The Coaching Skills Lab offers an opportunity for each coach to work with coaching peers in a safe space and build confidence and competence.

  • Each session will be supervised by two accredited coaching supervisors
  • Using the coach/coachee/observer model, the participants will use the time to explore these roles, provide feedback and develop confidence
  • The supervisor(s) will be on hand to observe the participants whilst they practice and also provide supervision space to agree ways of working and a summative session, to enhance learning

The session will give participants An opportunity to rebuild coaching networks and connections.

Who is this session for?

This CPD opportunity is intended to support the skillset of all practising coaches in the  South East NHSregardless of the level of accreditation or experience.

This session is for NHS Coaches who are registered on the South East coaching hub.

Your Supervisors

Chris Birbeck

Chris is an experienced leader and a qualified clinical professional, who has taken senior leadership roles in educational quality, clinical quality, patient safety, service transformation and the development of leaders. Chris is an enthusiast for leading quality improvement – its development and its practice, as well as shifting leadership towards a more collaborative, coaching style.

Chris is a very experienced coach, team coach, coaching supervisor and mentor. Over the past 16 years he has coached many operational and clinical leaders across health and social care, as well as coaching in education, business and for the clergy. As an executive coach, Chris has a reputation for creating honest and meaningful coaching relationships which deliver on client-focused outputs and longer-term outcomes. Naturally intuitive, he brings authenticity to the coaching space and co-creates and co-produces honest dialogue which enables the coaching client to feel supported, challenged and accountable for decisions and actions.

Sarah Massie
Sarah is a freelance leadership and organisational development consultant, leadership coach and coach supervisor. She has a special interest in compassionate leadership through mindfulness, using organisational development to support psychologically safe cultures where individuals and teams flourish.  She has almost 30 years experience in the NHS, including NHS East of England, where she was Head of Talent Management and Leadership Development and five years as a Senior Leadership Consultant at The King’s Fund.
