Media and Presentation Workshop

Developed for NHS Aspiring Chief Executives, the Media and Presentation Workshop is a day-long, interactive, in-person event, delivered by experienced journalists and media broadcasters.

The workshop includes both theory and practical exercises which will include everything from making and impact, connecting with your audience and delivering a pitch, to media messaging and interviews.

Who the session is for

For the NHS South East Aspiring Chief Executive Talent Pool. The workshop is ideal for you if you need to deliver messages or presentations at Chief Executive or Board level, as well as dealing with media enquiries. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from former journalists who have extensive knowledge from working with various media outlets and productions.

About the workshop

You’ll learn techniques for presenting, as well as having practical media interview sessions in front of the camera.  The skills you will learn through this workshop are just as applicable to presenting to a Board and leading a team, to being interviewed for roles. Key messaging is an important element of the workshops, and a variety of current issues or realistic scenarios will be used to fine tune what you say and how you say it. You’ll receive personalised verbal and written feedback to help you strengthen your own personal brand, as well as guidance on how to become a key spokesperson for your organisation. All attendees receive a copy of their three video interviews from these workshops.

Facilitators

Capricorn’s two media trainers are Robin Bailey and Owen Williams. They concentrate on their core learning around look, sound and message, incorporating workshop sessions in front of the camera with both instant and written feedback presented within two weeks of each session.

They believe that if you can deliver your message on TV, it breeds confidence and this in turn strengthens all forms of communication. They put great emphasis on making the right first impression, paying attention to body language, tone and delivery which promote authority and leadership. They test all levels of development through practical interviews.
