SUMMARY:Leadership Espresso: Sustaining a Good Team Culture
DESCRIPTION:About the Session\nThis is an interactive\, inclusive and practical learning burst style session to support line managers and team leads in creating\, sustaining and in some cases resetting their team culture. \nNHS Team Leaders\, Managers and Clinical Leads shoulder an ever-increasing burden of responsibility as they are required to actively manage an increasing acute combination of competing factors facing their teams and the services they provide: financial constraints\, backlog demands\, workforce shortages\, staff morale\, over-reliance on regulation and a centrally-driven target culture. \nThis is an opportunity for individuals to access practical\, easy-to-apply methods and approaches which are designed to support their teams. Providing individuals with invaluable thinking time to consider their teams current culture baseline\, and the strength of the team’s foundations combined with a focus on how to support teams to move forward. \nThe Approach\n\nWe create a psychologically safe space for people to learn and share experiences developing new and trusted connections.\nWe are agile in our delivery building trust and connection. We are able to draw on extensive professional knowledge\, expertise and psychological practice to ensure that the sessions can flex to meet needs that might present on the day.\nWe offer in the moment coaching feedback\, and small group working to help build confidence and ensure a participative session.\nWe use a supportive facilitating style to encourage individuals to reflect and stretch their thinking and their abilities.\nWe provide opportunity for practice and consideration of application – to ensure new approaches\, tools\, and techniques are explored before they leave the session\n\nWe hope participants leave the session feeling confident\, able and willing to ground their learning in their current context and implementation. \nThe focus is on the transfer of learning and its application\, ensuring that all material covered in the ‘virtual’ classroom can be used the same day in the work environment. \nWe run a ‘last in the room’ approach to ending each virtual learning session. Rebekah is always the last one to leave the session and invites people who may have specific issues\, or team challenges\, or simply didn’t feel able to speak out during the session to stay on the call. \nWho is This Session For\nThe NHS Leadership Academy provides leadership development for people of all backgrounds and experiences across health and care. \nBook Your Place\nBook a place via our RSVP booking system below. SUMMARY:Population health through community development: Maximising the impact of anchor institutions
DESCRIPTION:Through the concept of the anchor institution\, the ways in which health and social care can positively impact the economic well-being of our populations are being carefully considered and developed. \nWe are increasingly aware of the systemic factors that underpin population health: there is naturally a focus on environment as a key issue – but also an acknowledgement that local economic development plays a vital part in keeping the communities that we seek to serve well. \nIn so many localities where health and social care enjoys a presence\, the sector represents a major economic player. We are a key purchaser of goods and services – which\, in terms of both community development and ecology – we should be buying locally. And\, crucially at this time\, we are oftentimes the biggest employer in the area – although our “travel to work” patterns may not reflect this. \nAt this half-day event\, we will start to explore the link between community involvement\, local economic development\, and population health – with a particular emphasis on shifting our thinking and practice in terms of our workforce challenges. The event will give us the opportunity to consider topics such as genuinely hearing the voice of our populations and reconsidering our recruitment practices to create a more local focus. \nWe look forward to welcoming a number of expert contributors as well making space and time for us all to speak about our experiences and generate fresh ideas to take back to our workplaces. \nFor example\, we will be joined by Paul Beenen from the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen\, who will speak about his experiences as a key participant in local engagement projects in respect to complexity in health and welfare (www.ecolah.eu). Other speakers will also be invited to present in support of a rich and textured conversation on the day. \nBook your place\nPlease view the programme webpage for more information and to book your place.

SUMMARY:South East Regional Leadership\, OD and EDI Professionals Network – Talent
DESCRIPTION:Based on feedback we received from OD and EDI leads indicated a need and ask for a region-wide community to be created – allowing for those opportunities to connect within one another and help each other with leadership and workforce challenges\, sharing what is making an impact and speeding up scaling of great work. \nWe know that leadership and OD and EDI leads meet within an ICS footprint (although in some areas this is being refreshed due to a pause resulting from Covid) however the ask from colleagues is for a network that connects colleagues beyond their own ICS so that there is a larger potential community to learn from. \nThe inaugural event ran in July 2022 and provided time for individuals to start to create this forward thinking and transformational network with true connections and peer networking at the core. \nOur Next Meeting Theme is – Talent\nYou identified Talent as your second priority topic to explore as a network. \nYou have told us you most value time together to connect with colleagues in the network with that in mind we are creating a number of opportunities for conversations with colleagues within this session. \nConfirm Your Attendance\nPlease confirm your attendance via our RSVP booking system below for the South East Regional Leadership and OD Professionals Network Event on the 15th March 2023 – 12:00 – 14.00. SUMMARY:Virtual Action Learning Set (VALS) Community of Practice Supervision
DESCRIPTION:ALS  Supervision \nVirtual Action Learning Set (VALS) Community of Practice  Supervision \nOur aim is to build a community of practice who work together to support each other\, continue personal development in ALS facilitation and protect the quality of AL being experienced by health and social care staff. \nAs with coaching\, facilitators work as individuals using their own skills\, experience and presence as the catalyst for others’ learning. Group supervision gives us the opportunity to reflect on our experiences\, learn from others and ask questions to ensure that we are developing the best AL facilitation practice. \nThe supervision sessions will be offered throughout the year and will work with a maximum group of 8 so that there can be full involvement of all. We ask those attending to prepare by reviewing their recent experiences or future opportunities in ALS facilitation and prepare a question that can be discussed with the supervisor and explored with the whole group. It may be around a particular session or a theme that is showing up as a pattern across a series of ALS. \nIt is a confidential\, non-judgemental space where we all learn from the reflective practice about our different experiences. \nYour booking is not confirmed until you have received a confirmation email. Joining instructions will be sent as soon as your booking is confirmed. \nPlatform: Zoom – Joining instructions TBC \nplease note that London Workforce Colleagues will take preference over the spaces available. SUMMARY:Midwifery Leadership Development Series: Psychological Safety in Teams
DESCRIPTION:About the session:\n\n\n\nWhat is it and how do we know we have it? Psychological safety is a core component to effective teams. Research into effective\, high-performance teams has found overwhelming evidence that “If you change the nature and quality of the conversations in your team\, the quality of your outcomes increases exponentially. Psychological safety is the core component to unlock this”. \nWe would explore and provide the opportunity for individuals to measure the perceived and experienced ‘psychological safety’ they have in their team using the evidence based Psychological Safety Index (PSI) tool based on the research of Leading Harvard Professor Amy Edmondson. We recommend using the tool to provide a moment-in-time measure \n\n\n\nWhat to expect in these sessions:\n\n\n\nThe sessions are participative and active. Rebekah uses breakout rooms\, interactive feedback tools (Menti.com) and group discussion. We would ask that you come prepared to have your camera’s on to support the interactive and people centred nature of the session. \n\n\n\nThe sessions are designed to be a warm\, relaxed and honest space\, for people to share their experiences and connect with colleagues. Much of the issues and challenges you may be facing with your teams and colleagues will be shared by others and we know that realising ‘you aren’t the only one’ often serves to offer comfort and strength. \n\n\n\nFor Rebekah\, the measure of how good any development session is\, comes down to – what you end up doing after the session is over. So\, these sessions are about practical application; what you do when you are back at your desk\, in your next meeting or with your team – where ever possible Rebekah will provide you with things you can use\, do or try. \n\n\n\nWho is this session for? \n\n\n\nThis session is aimed towards Midwifes who manage or oversee teams (Band 6 and above) \n\nBook your Place\n\n\n\nBook a place via our RSVP booking system below. You will receive the joining instructions for the event 1 week before the session. \n\n\n\nSELA will retain a record of your name\, job role\, organisation\, band\, and contact details on its secure alumni register and contacts database for management information and communications purposes. Although we will be able to see your name and email address upon submission\, this data will be anonymised from the EDI details. We appreciate your support in providing this information\, which will help us to ensure our leadership development interventions are widely accessible and inclusive. \n\n\n\nYour booking details (i.e. name\, role\, organisation\, ICS) will be shared with the event provider and/or facilitator to allow them to understand participant thinking and adapt the event accordingly\, in addition to other regional leadership academies (as required) and with the members of other relevant SELA networks to aid communication\, sharing of good practice and support. SUMMARY:Midwifery Leadership Development: Understanding the Psychology of Now
DESCRIPTION:About the session:\n\n\n\nThe session focuses on the psychology of now and the impact of the current context on individuals. It emphasises the power of effective communication\, levels of listening and the importance of creating moments of connection during increased times of pressure\, workload and secondary stressors. \n\n\n\nAt the heart of this virtual session is a belief that individuals need to be supported and cared for – provided with time and space to reflect\, process and understand their current context so they are equipped to manage the challenges and pressures they face. Through having guided development time\, we increase our ability to support others and lead successfully within a continually changing context. This session will give you the opportunity to connect with peers\, share experiences and explore new tools and approaches to support yourself and your midwifery teams. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect in these sessions:\n\n\n\nThe sessions are participative and active.
