DESCRIPTION:Developing potential within others\nMentoring supports an individual or team’s learning\, development and performance. It is a successful developmental technique for organisations to use to support individuals to reach their full potential by offering them access to regular and contracted support from another person at work. \nMentoring can be particularly when targeting a specific audience such as mentoring for talent or inclusion and the training will focus on the skills\, knowledge\, tools and techniques to mentor effectively in practice within the NHS setting both mentor and mentee up for a successful and productive relationship. \nWho is it for?\nThis development is offered to NHS Senior Leaders and Aspiring Directors working in the South East region\, who will then become part of our regional Mentor facility and offer mentoring throughout our regional register. \nWhy Mentor training?\nAs Aspiring directors\, mentor training will build your ability to: \n\n\n\ndevelop the strengths and development needs of a diverse range of individuals\nspots potential: explore the career aspirations and shape development activities to support people to achieve their goals\nhelp mentees identify any capability gaps and close that gap\n\n\n\nThe material and practical exercises cover the following areas in order to build confidence in mentoring others within the workplace. \nObjectives\nThe session will be virtually delivered using Zoom. \nDay 1 (full day) \n\n\n\nUnderstanding what mentoring is (and what it is not)\nUnderstanding the context for mentoring and explore the role and responsibilities of the mentor\nDeveloping your own mentoring skills\nUsing process\, logs and paperwork to help bring focus to our mentoring\nUsing tools and techniques to creatively support and mentor\nTo practice mentoring skills and techniques in a range of circumstances\nTo explore how to use mentoring in practice to support and develop individuals.\n\n\n\nDay 2 (half day) \nThis will be a reflective CPD session with the opportunity to bring cases and explore application of learning in practice. SUMMARY:Virtual Action Learning Set (VALS) Supervision
DESCRIPTION:VALS  Supervision \nVirtual Action Learning Set (VALS) Community of Practice Supervision \nOur aim is to build a community of practice who work together to support each other\, continue personal development in ALS facilitation and protect the quality of AL being experienced by health and social care staff. \nAs with coaching\, facilitators work as individuals using their own skills\, experience and presence as the catalyst for others’ learning. Group supervision gives us the opportunity to reflect on our experiences\, learn from others and ask questions to ensure that we are developing the best AL facilitation practice. \nThe supervision sessions will be offered throughout the year and will work with a maximum group of 8 so that there can be full involvement of all. We ask those attending to prepare by reviewing their recent experiences or future opportunities in ALS facilitation and prepare a question that can be discussed with the supervisor and explored with the whole group. It may be around a particular session or a theme that is showing up as a pattern across a series of ALS. \nIt is a confidential\, non-judgemental space where we all learn from the reflective practice about our different experiences. \nYour booking is not confirmed until you have received a confirmation email. The session will allow participants to gain insight and skills in assessing and addressing the needs of LGBTQ staff with mental health issues and gain confidence in dealing with heterosexism\, homophobia\, biphobia and transphobia. SUMMARY:Collaborative Practice programme for GP practices
DESCRIPTION:Collaborative Practice is a data driven approach that supports general practice to understand the nature of demand and to find new ways of organising that will not only reduce the number of repeat appointments but will also meet the needs of patients. Altogether Better help GPs\, Practice Managers and their teams to develop the skills\, mindset and culture needed to create general practice fit for the future. We support practices to invite people on their list and from their community to work alongside them as volunteer Practice Health Champions\, becoming part of a new extended team that tackles the problems that medicine alone cannot fix. He has worked in and around health care for 35 years\, beginning as an Operating Department Orderly in 1981. In 2012\, he completed his Doctorate in Education at the University of Greenwich\, with a thesis that explored reflective practice and healthcare professionals through the lens of power. His first book appeared under the title Radical Organisation Development (Routledge\, 2020); more recently\, he co-wrote with John Higgins a book called Leadership Unravelled: The faulty thinking behind modern management (Routledge\, 2022). Their new title on voice\, silence and power in organisational life is due to be published early in 2023. DESCRIPTION:About the session:\n\n\n\nThe session focuses on the psychology of now and the impact of the current context on individuals. It emphasises the power of effective communication\, levels of listening and the importance of creating moments of connection during increased times of pressure\, workload and secondary stressors. \n\n\n\nAt the heart of this virtual session is a belief that individuals need to be supported and cared for – provided with time and space to reflect\, process and understand their current context so they are equipped to manage the challenges and pressures they face. Through having guided development time\, we increase our ability to support others and lead successfully within a continually changing context. This session will give you the opportunity to connect with peers\, share experiences and explore new tools and approaches to support yourself and your midwifery teams. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect in these sessions:\n\n\n\nThe sessions are participative and active. Rebekah uses breakout rooms\, interactive feedback tools (Menti.com) and group discussion. We would ask that you come prepared to have your camera’s on to support the interactive and people centred nature of the session. \n\n\n\nThe sessions are designed to be a warm\, relaxed and honest space\, for people to share their experiences and connect with colleagues.
