SUMMARY:The compassionate learning organisation session 2 – Mental models
DESCRIPTION:This 4 session virtual programme – free as part of your organisation’s membership of NHS Elect – has been designed to allow you to deepen your capacity to lead effectively and learn how to create an adaptive\, flexible learning environment where colleagues are encouraged to create a shared vision organisation. \n‘How do you see the world and others within it? \nThe above is a fiercely complex question to answer because — a lot of the time — how we perceive our surroundings is an amalgamation of conscious and subconscious\, known and unknown\, inherent and learned behaviours and prejudices. The lens through which we view the world is inherently subjective\, as is the thought processes we use to make sense of it. This we need to see the ‘facts’ and ‘truths’ of our life as merely models. \nIn this session\, we will explore how we may start to change that lens to view things and others in a different way or from a different perspective. To move away from a mindset of “here is how it is” and “how do we fix it?” to one of “How do we all see it”? \nTo do so\, we must access these mental models to challenge and develop them. Without a keen understanding of our personal mental models\, we cannot make space for new ideas and changes. We will particularly explore the mental models that we may have about others and how we may move from a mindset as leaders to hold others accountable for their impact upon me to one of holding ourselves accountable for our impact upon others. \nBook your place

SUMMARY:Leading Innovation in Systems Programme: Community of Practice 5
DESCRIPTION:The Leadership Academy in partnership with Fischer Associates launched a new leadership action research programme that applies systems thinking to exploring why and how innovations get adopted and spread. \nThe programme will support system leaders across the South East Region in experiential learning\, working together on real time regional change in primary care.  The programme will last a minimum of 6 months and will focus on identifying how system change happens and how specific conditions for change can be created and recreated to support the scale and spread of other innovation.  As a leader on this programme\, you will contribute to developing a new approach to scale and spread of innovation to potentially be used across the South East region and will be expected to use this approach to a change programme in your own system. \nFor more information about this programme\, please click here.

SUMMARY:The compassionate learning organisation session 3 – Building a shared vision and team learning
\nAs leaders\, we must appreciate that our mental models\, and our visions for the services that we lead\, may not necessarily be shared by others. Compliance does not motivate us\, but communicating and executing a shared vision does. When team members think together and work toward common goals\, they create a collaborative environment; making way for innovation and creativity. And\, as with feedback\, a continuous approach to vision sharing has best results. We need to move away from a view that vision and values are something that we can impose on others – as if we can tell others how to think. \nRather than imposing a vision\, we need to ensure that the strategic vision trickles down through each and every conversation and manifest itself in each and every shared goal. Employees who see leaders embody — and personally work toward — the desired direction\, will more easily support the team and/or organisation in its success. \nIn this session\, we will look at how you might approach creating an environment for team learning that will support the creation of a shared vision within your team and/or organisation. \nBook your Place

SUMMARY:The compassionate learning organisation session 4 – Systems Thinking
DESCRIPTION:This 4 session virtual programme – free as part of your organisation’s membership of NHS Elect – has been designed to allow you to deepen your capacity to lead effectively and learn how to create an adaptive\, flexible learning environment where colleagues are encouraged to create a shared vision organisation. \nIt is easy to think of our teams\, services\, and health and social care systems as ‘systems’. What is not always so readily acknowledged is that it is not the parts themselves that support effective systems but the interconnectedness of these parts. \nOur desire to make complex things simple\, means that we try and analyses the parts rather than understand the connectiveness of the many parts. That we seek to explain problems and challenges through simplistic ‘cause and effect’ explanations. What we may have to accept is that everything that we know and understand about the systems in which we work are just beliefs and assumptions that we hold that we have never tested or challenged. \nIn this final session\, we will explore how by building upon the elements explored in the previous sessions\, we can use models and approaches that may allow us to better understand the systems around us. \nBook your place

SUMMARY:Virtual Action Learning Set (VALS) Supervision
DESCRIPTION:*Run by London Leadership Academy* \nVALS  Supervision \nVirtual Action Learning Set (VALS)  Supervision \nOur aim is to build a community of practice who work together to support each other\, continue personal development in ALS facilitation and protect the quality of AL being experienced by health and social care staff. \nAs with coaching\, facilitators work as individuals using their own skills\, experience and presence as the catalyst for others’ learning. We ask those attending to prepare by reviewing their recent experiences or future opportunities in ALS facilitation and prepare a question that can be discussed with the supervisor and explored with the whole group. It may be around a particular session or a theme that is showing up as a pattern across a series of ALS. \nIt is a confidential\, non-judgemental space where we all learn from the reflective practice about our different experiences. \nYour booking is not confirmed until you have received a confirmation email. Joining instructions will be sent as soon as your booking is confirmed. \nPlatform: Zoom  – Joining instructions TBC \nplease note that London Workforce Colleagues will take preference over the spaces available.
