SUMMARY:Supporting yourself and your Team - Behaviours and the challenge of everyday interactions Espresso (Primary Care)
DESCRIPTION:About this session:\nThe session focuses on the psychology of now and the impact of the current context on individuals. It emphasises the power of effective communication\, including levels of listening and the importance of creating moments of connection during increased times of pressure\, workload and secondary stressors. We explore the potential impact of our current context on behaviours and what many people may be seeing or experiencing as they work across the Practice of PCN team. The session will support individuals who are required to lead or support others in how they think\, listen\, care and connect with their teams. \nWhat to expect:\nThe session is participative and active. Rebekah uses breakout rooms\, interactive feedback tools (Menti.com) and group discussion. We would ask that you come prepared to have your camera’s on to support the interactive and people centred nature of the session. \nThe session is designed to be a warm\, relaxed and honest space\, for people to share their experiences and connect with colleagues. Much of the issues and challenges you may be facing with your teams and colleagues will be shared by others and we know that realising ‘you aren’t the only one’ often serves to offer comfort and strength. \nFor Rebekah\, the measure of how good any development session is\, comes down to – what you end up doing after the session is over . So\, these sessions are about practical application; what you do when you are back at your desk\, in your next next meeting or with your team – where ever possible Rebekah will provide you with things you can use\, do or try. \nThe session will be virtually delivered on Zoom. \nWho the session is for:\nThis virtual event is for colleagues working in Primary Care in the South East region\, who is currently responsible for supporting or leading or managing others in their Practice or PCN.  \nBook your place:\nBookings have now closed for this event. \nIf you are interested to attend\, please email nhsi.selll@nhs.net \nOur Commitment \nWe are committed to making our training as accessible as possible (please see our accessibility page for what is currently available)\, we are aware that there is more that we can be doing. Please do contact us if there are any reasonable adjustments that we can make to support you to be able to attend this session. nhsi.selll@nhs.net  \nAbout the Facilitator\, Rebekah Giffney:\n \nRebekah is an experienced Chartered Occupational Psychologist\, with more than 18 years’ experience working with individuals\, teams and organisations. \nRebekah is passionate about helping people realise their full potential. With her team of practitioners Rebekah provides a range of learning opportunities that hone and harness the skills\, expertise and abilities of people to meet the situations and challenges they face at work. \nRebekah started her career in Primary Care and now works exclusively with the NHS. SUMMARY:Ways of Thinking About Change in Primary Care
DESCRIPTION:About this session:\nAre you finding it difficult to influence change right now? Would you be open to thinking about different ways to see and think about the context you work in? \nThis is a 3 hour ‘bite-size’ workshop designed to introduce those who are involved in supporting change and transformation in Primary Care settings to the benefits of the OD (Organisation Development) technique of looking at change through different lenses. \nHow we ‘see’ our organisation\, or network\, or environment in which we work determines how we try and influence it or make changes happen. So\, if we think about it in a different way\, does this mean other options or approaches could emerge? Is your organisation like a steam engine? Or a plate of spaghetti? Or a village? Or something else? \nThis workshop is designed for people to pause ‘doing’ and to think about these ideas in relation to their own workplace\, and the things they are currently trying to progress. Participants will get an opportunity to work with others thinking about a core question\, “…what other ways are there of approaching this?” \nThis is a workshop and not a webinar so you can expect it to be practical and interactive with a focus on the issues you are facing today. Our aim is to create an atmosphere where participants feel willing and able to talk openly with colleagues from Primary Care. You can expect the workshop to be very participative and will be working in small groups with other colleagues\, as well as hearing about the core ideas in the larger group. \nWhat will be covered:\nDuring the session you will: \n\n\n\nbe able to view and explain your own work environment in new ways – which in turn supports innovation and thinking about new ways forward\nbe able to practice a peer support and participation process to work on your own real-life issues\nbe signposted to further OD resources to continue your thinking\n\n\n\nWho the session is for:\nThis virtual event is for primary care colleagues in the South East region\, especially practice managers\, who find themselves needing to lead change efforts in their own practices and beyond. It may be particularly relevant for those who: \n\n\n\nWould like to think creatively about creating sustainable change\nAre interested in exploring an approach to change that sits separately in its foundation to some of the traditional QI approaches\n\n\n\nRegister your place:\nBookings have now closed for this workshop. \nAbout the Facilitator\, Simon Bird:\n \nSimon has worked with organisations in the fields of leadership and organisation development as a consultant\, coach\, designer and facilitator for over 15 years.   A significant part of his career has been spent working in and around the NHS\, and with healthcare leaders from a wide variety of backgrounds. \n  \nHe has an interest in innovative development approaches\, as well as the ongoing design and implementation of sustainable and pragmatic solutions – crucial during Covid-19.   His current work includes working with intact teams and networks – with a focus on effectiveness and how to respond to a complex and evolving environment. \n  \nHe works across the organisation development disciplines – which include organisation and team culture\, change leadership\, leadership development\, systemic team coaching and one to one coaching.  His work is typically with a wide range of clients in the public\, private and not for profit sectors.   Major clients in 2020 include the NHS Leadership Academy\, an international scientific research NGO\, a large combined local authority in England\, and an international private sector consultancy. \n  \nSimon was most recently a partner with the global consultancy Korn Ferry Hay Group\, where he led a team of consultants and advisers who worked across a portfolio of clients.  He left Korn Ferry Hay Group in 2017 to work independently and in association with other consultants\, establishing Thorpebird Consulting. \n  \nSimon has worked at chief executive level\, with executive teams\, operational and frontline teams to support them in building capability\, bring about improvements and develop ways of working.   He has worked extensively with people from all levels and many professions – and on a one to one basis\, through to organisation wide development interventions. \n  \n
