SUMMARY:The Power of Coaching Techniques Day 1 of 4
DESCRIPTION:An introduction to coaching and skills you can use to support your Primary Care Network Development. \nThe South East Leadership and Lifelong Learning Team are delighted to announce the launch of The Power of Coaching Techniques programme in the South East region. The programme will reflect on the rapid changes COVID has bought about the way we work and designed to equip primary care staff with the understanding\, tools\, and skills that using a coaching approach can bring to support your Primary Care Network (PCN) to develop and evolve.   \nFor PCNs\, operating in the context of increasing complexity and ambition requires the ability to build relationships\, listen and talk openly\, to set aside preconceived ideas of best practice and truly collaborate. This\, in turn\, needs a leadership shift from ‘problem-solver’ to ‘coach’. Evidence tells us the development of these vital coaching skills can build confidence\, develop non-clinical leadership skills and support change.   \nThis programme has been developed to support anyone who is working to bring about changes to support their PCN development\, and is aimed at those who are relatively new to coaching or who have had some experience but little formal coaching training  \nWorkshop Objectives:\n\nExplore the knowledge\, behaviours\, mind-set and strategies required to coach others well  \nExplore coaching styles\, theory and structures and put these into practice  \nPractice some of the key skills involved\, and connect these into real-world contexts  \n\nWorkshops will include:\n\nWhy coach?  \nWhat do you already have? What else do you need?  \nA look at different styles of coaching and when to use them \nThe core skills of coaching  \nGiving feedback  \nHandling emotions  \nCo-coaching of peers  \nForum theatre  \nSmall group practice of PCN-related coaching challenges\, enabling you to practise a real situation\, in a safe environment\, and explore and try-out different approaches  \n\nStyle of the workshops:\nAll workshops will be delivered virtually  \n\nInteractive and participative.  \nA mixture of theory and practical exercises to bring the theory to life and explore the practical application of the techniques and strategies  \nThe gaps between contact days will present important opportunities to experiment\, gather real- time data\, receive feedback\, reflect and refine  \n\nThis programme also includes follow-on Action Learning sessions intended to allow reconnecting with colleagues\, sharing stories of your experience of putting the skills from the workshop into practice and an opportunity to carry out some further practice with the support of a Practive Facilitator. These additional sessions will take place after the final session\, on dates to be agreed amongst the group.  \nThe team delivering the workshops:\n\nThe team delivering the workshops is from an organisation called Practive  \nPractive is a leadership development consultancy that has been designing and delivering developmental workshops for NHS staff at all levels for over fifteen years  \nThe Practive team delivering these workshops will be Adam Woodroffe\, Joel Greig and Deborah Asante  \nFor more information\, visit Practive’s website at www.practive.net  \n\n“The workshops were excellent. The balance of theory and application of models/techniques was well considered and well-paced\, with a fantastic facilitator of group work. I find myself using what I learned at these workshops with patients\, colleagues\, staff\, students and appraisees on a daily basis\, all with good effect. It really has changed how I approach daily interactions.” – West London GP \n

SUMMARY:Leadership Restoration Group - Session 4
DESCRIPTION:Are you feeling drained by the demands of the job? Are you finding it difficult to relax or recharge yourself? \nThen maybe a bit of leadership self-care might help you.\nLeaders care. Yet caring can come at a cost. Giving your all and feeling depleted. Sometimes called the ‘self-sacrificing syndrome’.  So naturally\, everyone\, including leaders\, needs time and space to pause for some selfcare. Some nourishment. That is where a restoration group can be helpful. \n \nWhy a Leadership Restoration Group?\nDesigned to offer safe spaces for leaders to talk openly about their experiences\, feelings and concerns\, and find mutual support from colleagues. The restoration group for leaders aims to support staff to find a sense of balance in their lives. Reducing the build-up of stress and increasing a sense of wellbeing through mutually nourishing conversations. The group offers an opportunity to ‘let go’ and find a sense of ease and calm in an otherwise frantic world. \nWhat is involved and what will I get from being part of a group?\nThe Leadership Restoration group process brings together a group of leaders in need of wellbeing support\, who then break into and form smaller groups that provide supportive spaces. These small support groups will be helped to prepare to get the most from their time together\, to feel safe and experience mutual support. The groups will be confidential. \nThese will be spaces where you will have time to speak openly about your feelings and concerns. There is no pressure to solve anyone’s problems. As colleagues\, your role is to listen without judgement and be present. \nHow is this different to other offers such as coaching or action learning sets?\nWhile individual coaching provides a 1:1 environment for individuals to offload\, talk in a safe space and develop practical strategies for coping and staying well\, restoration groups create spaces to bring people together for mutual support. By sharing and listening within a climate of mutual respect and support\, the restoration group offers a place to focus on wellbeing. \nUnlike action learning groups there is no pressure within the group to move toward a solution to a particular problem.  The focus is on being rather than doing and finding a space to be listened to and feel valued. \nWho is this programme for?\nThis offer is open for any leader delivering NHS funded care across the South East. \nDates and times\nThese sessions are a series of stand-alone sessions\, delivered on Zoom. Leaders may attend one or as many sessions as they find useful.\nSession 4: Tuesday 25th May 2021\, 14:00 – 16:00 \nBook your place\nThe sessions are fully funded. Please note that you need to complete a separate booking form for each session. \nTo book your place on Tuesday 25th May\, please complete the online form here. \nAbout the facilitator\n\nThese sessions will be facilitated by Byron Lee. \nByron has a background in health and social care\, community and higher education\, leadership development; and has spent the past 30 years supporting individuals\, teams\, communities and organisations build supportive and inclusive practices\, systems and cultures. His passion is supporting individuals\, teams and organisations weave together different sources of knowledge\, wisdom and practice to support collaborative learning and change. His current work involves supporting change agents develop a compassionate approach in their work so they can be better engaged with real world complexity and make a difference. \nIf you would like to discuss this opportunity before booking\, please contact us on nhsi.selll@nhs.net
