DESCRIPTION:You are booking onto ‘Leadership espresso – Mindout: LGBTQ+ Affirmative Practice \n\nAbout the session:\n\n\n\nThis training will explore the concept of Affirmative Practice and assist delegates in thinking deeply about increasing LGBTQ inclusion in their daily practices and services overall. ‘Affirmative Practice’ refers to a process of learning\, reflection\, analysis and planning to ensure that a service demonstrates its understanding of homophobia\, biphobia\, transphobia\, cissexism and heterosexism\, and of the impact these have on the experience of LGBTQ people.  \nBook your Place: \nBook a place via our RSVP booking system below. She is passionate about opening up dialogue and understanding between different communities and creating a better\, more inclusive world. Aiming to deliver lively and interactive training both in person and online\, she fosters a learning environment where people can be open and have their preconceptions challenged. She is particularly interested in educating about the needs and considerations for older LGBTQ people and for people living with HIV.

As the Queer History lecturer at Oxford\, your trainer will utilize his unique expertise to help delegates explore key insights into the policy\, events and salient cultural forces that have shaped LGBTQ experiences over the last century.  \nBook your Place: \nBook a place via our RSVP booking system below. Please contact us if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make to support you to attend this session. england.selll@nhs.net \nAbout the Facilitator \nDr. Jack Doyle \nDr. Jack Doyle (he/him) joined the MindOut Training team in October 2020 while also working as the Trans Advocacy Worker\, bringing with him extensive experience supporting LGBTQ people with mental health experiences. A veteran grassroots organiser for UK and international LGBTQ health initiatives\, Jack is one of the UK’s foremost experts in transgender healthcare advocacy. At MindOut\, he supported other trans\, non-binary\, and intersex people accessing healthcare\, housing\, employment\, safety\, immigration help\, and legal support. In 2021\, Jack joined Spectra in London as an Independent Health Advocate to launch a new trans advocacy service. Jack holds a doctorate in the history of war from the University of Oxford\, where he co-founded the Oxford Queer Studies Network and Oxford Mutual Aid. He is also a graduate of classical theatre training programmes at Shakespeare & Company and the British American Drama Academy\, and has worked as a journalist for platforms including OZY and NPR.

DESCRIPTION:You are booking onto ‘Leadership espresso – Mindout: Trans Allyship \n\nAbout the session:\nThis 90-minute leadership espresso forms part of our inclusion series  on LGBTQ History Month February . \nIn this session\, we will explore experiences of trans and nonbinary people from a non-clinical perspective\, including learning about social and medical transition. Delegates can expect to learn about what it means to be an ally in theory and in practice and explore what the trans and nonbinary community needs from its cisgender allies. The workshop will also explore non-optical allyship\, using trans-inclusive language\, and the best practices and limitations of pronouns in the workplace.  \n\n\n\nBook your Place: \nBook a place via our RSVP booking system below. He joined the MindOut team in January 2022. He is thrilled to be part of an organisation that values wellbeing and responding genuinely to need\, as well as understanding mental health as a community issue. Fae are passionate about working with an empathetic\, intersectional\, and affirming approach. Previous to working at MindOut\, Kip was a support worker for adults with Autism\, learning disabilities\, and mental health needs\, after training as a teacher. This\, alongside faer own life experiences\, taught Kip about the importance of being trauma-informed and how vital connecting with mental wellbeing is to all of us. As the Wellbeing Project Worker at MindOut\, Kip runs suicide prevention support groups for service users\, provides individual support to LGBTQ+ people who are dealing with mental health challenges\, and delivers training and workshops on aspects of queer mental health\, including trauma and suicide.
