SUMMARY:Mentoring in a Thinking environment
DESCRIPTION:About the session:\n\nAn Introduction to Mentoring in a Thinking Environment \nGiven that the primary task of a mentor is to empower people to learn from acting and to act on their learning\, mentors need to adopt a different mindset from the one they use in their NHS day job as a manager\, clinician or specialist.  We need to move away from the diagnostic listening and analysis that we are so practised at and take a mentee-focused approach.  In other words\, our sessions need to be in an environment where our mentee can relax and think for themselves.  This session will introduce some of the key ideas from Nancy Kline’s work on Time to Think and includes opportunities for you to put these into practice with colleagues. \n\nWho is this session for?\nThis virtual event is for our South East Mentoring Faculty Only \nBook your Place:\nReserve a place via our RSVP booking system below. Every coaching contract is unique to the individual client and reflects a strong belief in coaching as a developmental alliance between the coach and client. Lorna takes a systemic approach to her coaching. The focus invariably concerns a client’s key relationships. It is an understanding of the complexity and interdependence of those relationships that can provide useful insights into how to bring about change. The coaching process is about supporting the client through change\, looking at patterns of thinking and behaviour\, in the context of effectiveness as a business leader. The coaching takes place in a climate that promotes the client’s thinking.
