SUMMARY:Developing a Coaching Culture Programme - Action Learning Set Group 2 (workshop 6 of 6)
DESCRIPTION:Our series of initial workshops will aim to: \n\nEstablish an influential community with a shared objective of developing a culture of coaching across our region\, exploring together what this truly means.\nEngage a community who challenge and support each other’s thinking and practice through long-term relationships with mutual agreement of expectations and accountabilities.\nNurture\, mobilise\, grow and sustain a Coaching Culture throughout the region and beyond.\n\n\nWorkshop 1: Monday 28th March 13:00-17:00 – ‘Why and What’: Why might we want a coaching culture? What might it look like? What are the pros and cons?\nWorkshop 2: Friday 29th April 09:00-13:00–   ‘How and Who’: How we’ll create the culture we’re looking for\, in our own teams and organisations. Who we’ll need to help us and how we’ll get them on board.\nWorkshop 3: Monday 16th May 13:00-17:00 – ‘Where and When’: Where and when is this already happening? What green shoots are we seeing\, here and elsewhere\, and how can we nurture them?\nWorkshop 4: Monday 6th June 13:00-17:00 – ‘What next?’: Mapping and modelling the complex systems that enable and inhibit this culture we’re seeking. Setting ourselves up for success going forward.\nAction Learning Set – group 1 –  27th June \, 13:00- 17:00\nAction Learning Set – group 2 –4th July 13:00-17:00\n\nThis programme is open to all staff working in the South East who are true advocates of coaching and mentoring-type interactions\, and/or are effective and passionate developers of these skills whether this is something you do formally and consciously\, or instinctively day-to-day. This community is for the people who see the value in slowing down to speed up\, and can facilitate opportunities for others to do the same. This programme is not appropriate for qualified Coaches \nYou will be either employed by the NHS or working with an NHS funded employer delivering NHS funded care in clinical or non-clinical roles \nNB: This is not training programme per se and there will be no Coaching accreditation or qualification at the end. It is a structured\, bespoke\, highly collaborative and interconnected series of sessions aimed at helping you nurture\, mobilise\, grow and sustain a Coaching Culture in your organisation. The emphasis is on helping each other navigate the various enablers and inhibitors in our organisations. We’ve asked the facilitator to use their expertise in coaching and culture change to support and enable us\, just like a really good coach would. So\, there’s very little teaching indeed: for the most part\, we are the content. \nFor more information on this programme please visit the Developing a Coaching Culture Programme webpage. \nOur Commitment  \nWe are committed to making our training as accessible as possible (please see our accessibility page for what is currently available)\, we are aware that there is more that we can be doing. Please do contact us if there are any reasonable adjustments that we can make to support you to be able to attend this session. england.selll@nhs.net

SUMMARY:Mentoring in a Thinking environment
DESCRIPTION:About the session:\n\nAn Introduction to Mentoring in a Thinking Environment \nGiven that the primary task of a mentor is to empower people to learn from acting and to act on their learning\, mentors need to adopt a different mindset from the one they use in their NHS day job as a manager\, clinician or specialist.  We need to move away from the diagnostic listening and analysis that we are so practised at and take a mentee-focused approach.  In other words\, our sessions need to be in an environment where our mentee can relax and think for themselves.  This session will introduce some of the key ideas from Nancy Kline’s work on Time to Think and includes opportunities for you to put these into practice with colleagues. \n\nWho is this session for?\nThis virtual event is for our South East Mentoring Faculty Only \nBook your Place:\nReserve a place via our RSVP booking system below. You will receive the Joining Instructions on how to attend 1 week prior to the event. \nIf your circumstances change and you can no longer attend\, please email england.selll@nhs.net \nAlthough we will be able to see your name and email address upon submission\, once extrapolated this data will be anonymised. We appreciate your support in providing this information\, which will help us to ensure our leadership development interventions are widely accessible and inclusive. \nThe session will be delivered virtually on Microsoft Teams \nAbout the Facilitators\nLorna Wellsteed\, Director of Wellsteed Associates\nLorna Wellsteed is an experienced and credentialed executive coach. Every coaching contract is unique to the individual client and reflects a strong belief in coaching as a developmental alliance between the coach and client. Lorna takes a systemic approach to her coaching. The focus invariably concerns a client’s key relationships. It is an understanding of the complexity and interdependence of those relationships that can provide useful insights into how to bring about change. The coaching process is about supporting the client through change\, looking at patterns of thinking and behaviour\, in the context of effectiveness as a business leader. The coaching takes place in a climate that promotes the client’s thinking.
