SUMMARY:Leadership Espresso – Mindout: Trans Allyship
DESCRIPTION:You are booking onto ‘Leadership espresso – Mindout: Trans Allyship \n\nAbout the session:\nThis 90-minute leadership espresso forms part of our inclusion series  on LGBTQ History Month February . \nIn this session\, we will explore experiences of trans and nonbinary people from a non-clinical perspective\, including learning about social and medical transition. Delegates can expect to learn about what it means to be an ally in theory and in practice and explore what the trans and nonbinary community needs from its cisgender allies. The workshop will also explore non-optical allyship\, using trans-inclusive language\, and the best practices and limitations of pronouns in the workplace.  \n\n\n\nBook your Place: \nBook a place via our RSVP booking system below. You will receive the joining instructions for the event 1 week before the session. \nSELA will retain a record of your name\, job role\, organisation\, band\, and contact details on its secure alumni register and contacts database for management information and communications purposes. Although we will be able to see your name and email address upon submission\, this data will be anonymised from the EDI details. Please do contact us if there are any reasonable adjustments that we can make to support you to be able to attend this session. england.selll@nhs.net \nAbout the Facilitator \nKip Erev \nKip (pronouns: he/him\, fae/faer) is a qualified teacher and trainee Art Psychotherapist. He joined the MindOut team in January 2022. He is thrilled to be part of an organisation that values wellbeing and responding genuinely to need\, as well as understanding mental health as a community issue. Fae are passionate about working with an empathetic\, intersectional\, and affirming approach. Previous to working at MindOut\, Kip was a support worker for adults with Autism\, learning disabilities\, and mental health needs\, after training as a teacher. This\, alongside faer own life experiences\, taught Kip about the importance of being trauma-informed and how vital connecting with mental wellbeing is to all of us. As the Wellbeing Project Worker at MindOut\, Kip runs suicide prevention support groups for service users\, provides individual support to LGBTQ+ people who are dealing with mental health challenges\, and delivers training and workshops on aspects of queer mental health\, including trauma and suicide.

He has worked in and around health care for 35 years\, beginning as an Operating Department Orderly in 1981. In 2012\, he completed his Doctorate in Education at the University of Greenwich\, with a thesis that explored reflective practice and healthcare professionals through the lens of power. His first book appeared under the title Radical Organisation Development (Routledge\, 2020); more recently\, he co-wrote with John Higgins a book called Leadership Unravelled: The faulty thinking behind modern management (Routledge\, 2022). \nTheir new title on voice\, silence and power in organisational life is due to be published early in 2023.
